Two paths. One purpose.
Voluncare matches vetted volunteers with families who need relief — safely, simply, with care. Here's exactly how it works.
Volunteer Flow
For those who want to give their time
Register & pay R99 admin fee
Create your profile and pay the once-off R99 admin fee. This covers your background check and facilitator review.
Submit ID & background check
Upload your ID document. Our team runs a thorough background verification before anything else happens.
Facilitator interview & approval
One of our trained facilitators will contact you for a brief interview. Once approved, your profile goes live.
Get matched & make your visit
You're connected with a host. Log your arrival and departure on the platform. Rate the experience afterwards.
Host Flow
For families who need a helping hand
Register & describe your needs
Tell us what kind of care you need, how often, and where you're located. The more detail, the better the match.
Submit ID for screening
Hosts are screened too. This protects our volunteers and ensures a safe environment on both sides.
Facilitator reviews & matches
Your request goes to our facilitator team. They carefully match you with an approved volunteer based on your needs and location.
Welcome your vetted volunteer
Log the visit on the platform when your volunteer arrives and mark it complete when they leave. Rate their visit after.
Every volunteer is vetted.
Every host is screened.
No exceptions.
Our founder lost his father to an unvetted, unqualified carer. Vetting is the entire foundation of this platform — not an afterthought.
ID Verification
Every applicant — volunteer or host — uploads a valid South African ID document before any match is made.
Background Check
All volunteers undergo a formal background verification process. Criminal history and references are reviewed before approval.
Facilitator Approval
A trained Voluncare facilitator conducts a personal interview with every volunteer before they are cleared to be matched.
More than just volunteering
Voluncare is designed to grow with you — building credentials and rewarding commitment.
Training & Certification
At a later stage, Voluncare will offer accredited caregiving training for volunteers. This means your time on the platform builds toward a nationally recognised qualification.
Recognised competency → Enhanced employability → Real career pathways in the care sector.
Voluncare Coin (VCC)
Volunteers earn Voluncare Coin (VCC) for every approved visit. VCC is Voluncare's own digital token — a way of recognising and rewarding the time you give.
Early participants can also invest in VCC at launch value. As the platform grows, so does the potential value of your contribution.
What people ask us
Why is there a R99 admin fee for volunteers?
The R99 admin fee covers the cost of your formal background check and facilitator interview. It is a once-off fee that ensures only committed, vetted individuals join the platform.
How long does the vetting process take?
Typically 3–5 business days from the time your documents are submitted and payment is received.
Is Voluncare available in my area?
We are currently building our network across South Africa. Register your interest and we will prioritise your province as we grow.
Do hosts pay for the service?
Voluncare is a volunteer platform — volunteers give their time freely. Hosts are not charged for visits. We are an NPO, funded through donations, partnerships, and the volunteer registration fee.
